LEONIDAS M. CARRINGTON


2.  Leonidas M. CARRINGTON2(Walker1) was born 07 Jun 1836 in Gibson or Henderson County, Tennessee, USA. He died 28 Oct 1901 and is buried in the Thorn Cemetery near Greenbrier, Arkansas, USA. Leonidas married first in 1856 in Tennessee, USA to Manassa DICKENS and second 24 Jan 1869[1]  in Conway County, Arkansas, USA to Amanda M. WHITE who is also buried in the Thorn Cemetery near Greenbrier, Arkansas, USA[2].

Sgt. Leonidas M. Carrington served in the 3rd Arkansas Cavalry Regiment, Union Company L.  He enlisted 25 Jan 1864 at Springfield, Arkansas, USA.  His description was 5'9", eyes blk, hair brn, complx lt, farmer age 27, born in Henderson Co, Tennessee, USA.  He was discharged 26 Nov 1863.  He was on garrison duty at Lewisburg, Arkansas, USA  and participated in the Camden campaign.

4 i.  Georgia Ann CARRINGTON3(Leonidas2Walker1) was born 1857 in Tennessee, USA. She married James BOYD.
5 ii.  Lea M. CARRINGTON3(Leonidas2Walker1) was born 21 Feb 1864 in Arkansas, probably Conway County. She married 14 Dec 1879 in Faulkner County, Arkansas, USA to John S. MOBBS.
Children of Leonidas and Amanda Carrington were:
iii.  Charity L. CARRINGTON3(Leonidas2Walker1) was born Aug 1870.
11 iv.  Ella Monroe CARRINGTON3(Leonidas2Walker1) was born 22 Nov 1870 and died 06 Dec 1946. She is buried in the Oakland Cemetery in the Holland Community, AR. She married first on 23 Sep 1891 to Dr. J. S. WILSON. After his death, she married second to Dr. W. T. MCDONALD who was born 17 Oct 1867 and died 26 May 1940. He is buried in the Holland Community, Arkansas, USA.
v.  Maggie CARRINGTON3(Leonidas2Walker1) was born 1874. She married before 1900 to William MCGINLEY.

¦ Leonidas was in Conway County, Arkansas, USA in 1860 census
¦ Leonidas served in the Third Arkansas Union Cavalry in the Civil War. The third AR Cavalry was organized and mustered in at Little Rock, AR, Feb 1864. Primary recruitment places: Conway, Yell, Pulaski Counties in AR. Services in northern and central AR, garrison duty at Lewisburg, AR and participation in the Camden campaign. Mustered out 20 Aug 1864. Total enlistments: 1421.
